Starlings Volleyball Club is blessed to have a
personable coaching staff with a wealth of
volleyball knowledge amongst them.  Take
some time out to meet your coaches!
Shannon Walker, Director
18's Coach

Shannon began coaching for Starlings in
2000.  She took over as director in
2008.  At that time, she was honored
with the Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious
Service Award through USA Volleyball,
for outstanding contributions to the sport
of volleyball. In 2009 she coached the
18's to the National Championship at the
Starlings National Tournament.  There
she was
also honored with the "Champion
for Starlings
" award.
Shannon is also the head coach at
Northwest High School.
 She has a
Bachelor's Degree in English and is
pursuing her Masters in Education.
 She
has a 7 year old son, Kadon.
Erin Golden, 17's Coach

Erin is Starlings Alumni.  She played for
Starlings from 2000-2004.  During her
playing career, Erin was a member of the
Starlings National All-Star team.
 After
graduating from high school, Erin began
volunteering as an assistant.  She has
since joined the coaching staff as a head
coach and took the 17's to Nationals in
2009 where they finished 3rd in the
bronze division.  Erin is also the JV coach
at North High School.  She will graduate
in the Spring of 2010 with a degree in
Physical Education.  Erin is the mother of
5 year old Taniya.
Melisa Jack, 16's Coach

Melisa Jack is also Starlings Alumni.  She
played for Starlings from 2004-2008.  She
was a
part of the 2007 National
Championship Runner-Up team.  Melisa
earned a full ride volleyball scholarship to
Kansas City Kansas Community College, where
she was a setter.  Melisa came back to
Omaha to pursue her degree in Nursing.  In
2009, she coached the 14's team to a
National Championship at the Starlings
National Tournament.  Melisa is also the
Freshman coach at Northwest High School.
Melisa says she "coaches Starlings because
she wants to be able to pass on the same
knowledge and opportunities that were
available to her as a player."
Jamie Moran, Coach

Jamie is also Starlings Alumni.  She played
for Starlings from 2001-2005.
In high
school Jamie was All-Metro and currently
still holds the record at Omaha North High
School for "Most Blocks in a Season",
Jamie
earned a full ride volleyball scholarship to
Central Community College. She played Right
Side there and her team made it to the
JUCO National Tournament.  Jamie is now
pursuing a degree in Education at UNO.  
This will be her third season as a coach for
Starlings.
Katrelle Armwood, 15's Coach

This will be Katrelle's first year coaching
for Starlings, however, she has coached for
4 years.  In high school, Katrelle's team won
the North Carolina State Championship and
she was named MVP of the game.  She was
also the 2002 Female Athlete of the Year in
North Carolina.  She went on to play
volleyball at Tennessee State University,
where she made All Freshman Team of the
Ohio Valley Conference, was Conference
player of the week several times, and was
Athlete of the Year twice at TSU.  Katrelle
is currently pursuing a Doctorate in
Engineering at the University of Nebraska
at Lincoln.
Lori Danner, 14's Coach

Coach Danner has coached for thirty years,
fifteen of which has been at the Varsity
level.  This will be her tenth year coaching
club and sixth year with Starlings.  She
has three kids, Spencer, Adrienne, and
Erika and five grandchildren.  Coach
Danner is currently the head coach at
Omaha North High School.  
Coach Danner believes that "all you need
to be a champion is an opportunity", and
that is why she coaches Starlings; to
provide that opportunity.


Brittney Lewis, 13's Coach
Kevin Gilreath, 18's Assistant

This will be Kevin's 9th season as a coach,
6th at the club level and 2nd with
Starlings.  Kevin played for several years
while in the Army and later in leagues with
the Omaha Sports Club.  Kevin finds it
very rewarding to teach new skills or
refine current skills.  Kevin is looking
forward to this year after the success at
Nationals last year and said, "It was very
satisfying to watch them come together as
a team and as friends.  I am grateful to
have been a small part of that.  We have
some big shoes to fill this year, but I know
that we have the players to keep us at a
National Championship Level."
